Prof. Hans Bakker, Sociology and Anthropology, gave the presidential address at the North Central Sociological Association (NCSA) meeting held in Cleveland March 31 to April 2.

His talk, “Pragmatic Sociology: Healing the Discipline,” discussed various writings on the subject of pragmatism.

NCSA is one of five regional associations in the United States working under the umbrella of the American Sociological Association. Bakker is the first Canadian to be elected president of a regional sociology association.
