The University of Guelph’s Board of Governors has voted to extend provost and vice-president (academic) Maureen Mancuso’s second term in office by 12 months.

The goal is to provide a one-year time frame between the end of president Alastair Summerlee’s second term and the completion of Mancuso’s term in office. Previously, the Board decided to extend Summerlee’s term until June 30, 2014, to align the completion of his presidential service with the culmination of both The BetterPlanet Project and the University’s 50th anniversary in 2014.

Mancuso’s second term was also set to end in June 2014, but U of G governors determined it was best not to have both the president and provost positions following the same time frame. Therefore, Mancuso’s term was extended until June 30, 2015.
