Political science professor Craig Johnson will be in London July 13 advising the UK government. He will discuss the use of international development assistance to manage and reduce the risks of population displacement caused by climate change.

Johnson will present a co-authored paper on how to use cash transfers, asset transfers and other forms of “social protection” to alleviate destitution and distress migration prompted by severe environmental stress.

His audience will include senior climate change and social development advisers from the UK Department for International Development.

Johnson has published widely in international development on poverty, vulnerability, decentralization and accountability in development policy and practice.
