The Macdonald Stewart Art Centre is planning a special event as part of national Culture Days in September. It involves having several hundred people forming a human art chain.
The volunteers will hold hands and weave a human chain inside the gallery, around the building and throughout the grounds.

It’s a gesture to build tolerance and acceptance and connectedness, and a way to get people to visit the art centre, says Aidan Ware, education and development co-ordinator.
Culture Days runs Sept. 24 to 26. The goal is to raise awareness, accessibility, participation and engagement in art and culture activities and to demonstrate how important these activities are in any community.
It’s part of a national grassroots initiative patterned after the very successful Journées de la culture that’s been held in Quebec for some 13 years.
Other weekend activities will include a late night lantern tour of the outdoor Sculpture Park, music, barbecues, wine and cheese, art exhibits and screenings of documentaries about artists Tom Thomson and Ken Danby.
Artists and organization interested in getting involved should visit www.culturedays.ca. Anyone interested in the human art chain can reach Ware by email at aware@msac.ca or by phone at 519 837-0010 ext. 2.
