The University of Guelph Chamber Singers are finalists in the 2010 Association of Choral Communities’ National Amateur Choir Competition (formerly known as the CBC Radio National Amateur Choir Competition).

U of G is competing in the mixed-voice collegiate choir category. Other finalists in this category are the Memorial University of Newfoundland Chamber Choir and the University of Saskatchewan Greystone Singers. The winner will be announced at a May 22 gala. The event will then be broadcast during “Choral Concert” on CBC Radio Two at 9 a.m. May 23.

This is the first time the 22-member U of G choir has made it to the final round of this competition. In 2006, U of G’s Women’s Chamber Choir made it to the finals in the contemporary music class, placing third among 78 entries nationwide.
