Three U of G faculty from the College of Arts have received significant international honours for their scholarly work in recent weeks.

History professor Catherine Carstairs has been awarded a Fulbright Traditional Scholar Award and will spend the upcoming academic year at the University of California at Davis. She is studying how people use food to express identity, exert control over their lives and gain pleasure.

Philosophy professor Peter Eardley has been awarded a year-long Humboldt Fellowship that will take him to the University of Freiburg in Germany. His research focuses on the moral psychology and ethical theories of thirteenth century theologians; his teaching interests include the philosophy of film, law and human nature and the historical connection between religion and morality.

In addition, Prof. Anne Milne, School of English and Theatre Studies, has received a prestigious six-month fellowship in Munich, Germany. A joint initiative of Ludwig Maximilian University and the Deutsches Museum, the program draws leading academics from all over the world to work on the complex relationship between nature and culture across disciplines.
