Dr. Carl Walkley, associate professor, Department of Medicine, University of Melbourne, presents “Application of Murine Models of Osteosarcoma for Preclinical Target Discovery and Validation.”
Walkley completed a bachelor of pharmacy at the University of South Australia in 1999 and a PhD at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, University of Melbourne, in 2003. He then undertook post-doctoral training with Prof. Stuart Orkin at the Dana-Farber Cancer Center, Children’s Hospital Boston.
In 2008, Walkley returned to Australia and now co-leads the Stem Cell Regulation Unit at St. Vincent’s Institute of Medical Research in Melbourne. His focus is on the generation and application of innovative preclinical models of human cancer as target discovery and preclinical validation platforms, myelodysplastic syndrome and osteosarcoma. His laboratory also has a long-standing interest in understanding RNA editing and the ADAR1 protein.
