Dr. Thomas Graham, a professor in the School of Environmental Sciences who specializes in controlled environment agriculture, spoke to Wired about the growth of new agricultural technology for the indoor farming industry.
“Everyone’s coming out of the gate trying something new, and some of it works, and some of it doesn’t. It’s still a little bit of the Wild West, and creativity is running rampant. That’s a great thing,” he said.
The PhytoGro Research Chair in Controlled Environment Systems, Graham studies the use of vertical farming for tree crops and bioregenerative life support for human space exploration. He is also a jury member on the Deep Space Food Challenge.
