Epidemiologist Dr. Katie Clow spoke to the Toronto Star about why Canada has seen a steep rise in reported Lyme disease cases in recent years.
Clow said “most of the evidence supports that it’s climate change that is driving” the increase in case numbers, which is why some health professionals would like to see more resources available for Lyme disease testing.
A professor in the Department of Population Medicine, Clow researches the epidemiology of vector-borne and zoonotic diseases with One Health and specializes in tick-borne diseases.
