Paul Kelly, the research and apiary manager at U of G’s Honey Bee Research Centre (HBRC), spoke to Cottage Life about this year’s devastating colony losses and what beekeepers can expect this summer.  

Kelly said: “bees just have too many problems to deal with at one time,” including climate change, and provided tips to homeowners and gardeners on how they can help support bees and beekeepers.  

Kelly has worked with bees for more than three decades and produces videos on beekeeping for HBRC’s YouTube channel.
