Dr. Paul Anglin spoke to The Canadian Press in an article that appeared across several media outlets about a proposed tax on domestic home buyers with multiple properties.
Anglin said taxing domestic buyers would target most of the market and have a greater effect on the housing crisis than taxing foreign buyers, but tackling the housing crisis from the supply side would be more sensible.
A professor of real estate in the Department of Marketing and Consumer Studies at the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics, Anglin studies the housing market, including time-on-market, price mechanisms, price dynamics and related marketing or promotion strategies.
