This International Women’s Day the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) recognized the contributions of women within and beyond their organization. Ontario Veterinary College professor Dr. Katie Clow was one of the women to be featured.
A former CFIA veterinarian and veterinary student intern, Clow described her work with the government agency as “an invaluable experience for (her) career as a scientist.” Her mentors and female role models, she said, helped her develop her skillset and inspired her to push her boundaries.
“I was exposed to the diverse ways that veterinarians can contribute to society, which motivated me to advance my education in science,” she said.
Clow researches the epidemiology of vector-borne and zoonotic diseases with One Health in the Department of Population Medicine.
