Dr. Stephen LeBlanc, a professor in the Department of Population Medicine, spoke to CBC Hamilton about a cow near Brantford, Ont., that recently gave birth to triplets.
After noting that cows usually have just one calf at a time or occasionally twins, LeBlanc said the odds of delivering triplets is between 10,000 and 100,000 to one.
LeBlanc also spoke to CBC London back in February when another cow near Lucan, Ont., also gave birth to triplets.
A veterinarian who works in dairy cattle health management, Leblanc’s research focuses on dairy cow metabolic and reproductive health and management.
