Dr. Meghan McMurtry, a professor in the Department of Psychology, spoke to both Discovery Magazine and Reader’s Digest about needle fear and how to overcome it.

While many in Canada are excited to be getting one of the COVID-19 vaccines, McMurtry explained that for some, needle fear is a real phenomenon. The fear can so intense, in a small percentage of people it is classified as a phobia.

McMurtry is a clinical and health psychologist with the Pediatric Chronic Pain program at McMaster Children’s Hospital and an associate scientist at the Children’s Health Research Institute.
