What is the safest way to shop for groceries during a pandemic? Is it really necessary to wash and disinfect all food items brought in from the store?

U of G food microbiologist Jeffrey Farber, the director of the Canadian Research Institute for Food Safety and a professor in the Department of Food Science, believes there are many misunderstandings about the role of food in the transmission of COVID-19 .

Prof. Farber  is available to dispel some of the myths that been been circulating on social media about proper food safety and explain which disinfection steps are needed to stay healthy — and which are not.
