Prof. Troy Riddell

Prof. Troy Riddell, chair of the University of Guelph’s political science department, spoke to The Globe and Mail in a story on how background checks are conducted for judicial appointment candidates.

Riddell commented on the need for transparency in the appointment process.

He studies judicial politics, including the relationships among judicial appointments, judicial independence and judicial decision-making.

He also examines criminal justice policy, including sentencing decisions, and Charter of Rights application decisions.
