Prof. Malcolm Campbell will complete his first term as vice-president (research) on May 31, 2020, and has expressed interest in reappointment for a second term.

In keeping with the University Appointments Policy, a review of Prof. Campbell’s first term is being conducted under the direction of a review committee, which includes the following members:

  • Gwen Chapman, dean, College of Social and Applied Human Sciences
  • Rene Van Acker, dean, Ontario Agricultural College
  • Shauneen Bruder, member and vice-chair, Board of Governors
  • Kim Francis, faculty, College of Arts
  • David Ma, faculty, College of Biological Science
  • Laura Van Eerd, faculty, Ontario Agricultural College
  • Julia Kakish, undergraduate student
  • Danyelle Liddle, graduate student
  • Sameer Al-Abdul-Wahid, staff, College of Engineering and Physical Sciences
  • Nicolas Dery, staff, College of Engineering and Physical Sciences

The University community is invited to provide input and comment on Campbell’s role as vice-president (research). In particular, the review committee is interested in receiving feedback pertaining to the following characteristics, as they relate to fulfillment of the vice-president (research) mandate, and positioning the institution for the future:

  • Research leadership and management, including research planning
  • Encouraging research innovation and excellence
  • Relationship and partnership building
  • Oversight of research operations
  • Leadership and oversight of the agreement with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs
  • Management and communication abilities
  • Overall leadership style

Submission of Comments

Faculty, staff and students may submit comments to the review committee by confidential email to universityappts@uoguelph.ca (accessed only by the University Secretary). Alternatively, comments may be submitted confidentially in hard copy to the University Secretary (University Centre, Room 402). Anonymous submissions will not be accepted.

 Submissions will remain strictly confidential and be reviewed solely by the review committee. Submissions must be received by March 12.
