The University of Guelph’s House Calls program, an initiative intended to ensure students feel welcomed and supported, was featured on CBC News.

Following its success in the 2017 winter semester, the program has returned this year and is currently under way. U of G staff, administrators and volunteers knock on the doors of about 4,700 students in campus dorms to let them know they are part of a caring, helpful campus community. This friendly check-in is a way to personally welcome students, and find out how they are doing and what they need. Volunteers also make students aware of activities and supports available, including mental health services.
