President Franco Vaccarino had an op-ed published in The Record March 29 about the federal budget. In the column,
Vaccarino says the budget shows that the Canadian government understands the importance of investing in education and research. He discusses how such support tackles the country’s need for stimulus spending while also considering Canada’s longer-term needs.

Follwing the release of the budget March 22, Vaccarino called it “good news” in a University news bulletin, saying: “We are delighted that the federal government is making knowledge and innovation a priority…This increased federal support, coupled with the recent provincial infrastructure investment to U of G, will play a critical role in providing our students with access to leading-edge facilities and to keeping our top research talent at U of G and in Ontario and Canada.”
