Grant Maxie, Animal Health Laboratory and co-director of U of G’s Laboratory Services Division, has been named Laboratorian of the Year by the Canadian Animal Health Laboratorians Network (CAHLN).
The annual award recognizes a diagnostician, educator, researcher or mentor for their contributions to veterinary laboratory medicine in Canada. Recipients are selected from provincial, federal and university diagnostic veterinary laboratories, Canadian veterinary colleges, and veterinary research organizations.
Maxie has led AHL since it moved to U of G in 1997 under the University’s enhanced partnership with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food. He oversees a staff of about 100 full- and part-time employees who provide specialized diagnostic services for veterinarians and public- and private-sector clients. Maxie is a graduate of the Western College of Veterinary Medicine’s DVM program.
