“Purification ceremony is rather foundational to our way of life, since most Indigenous Peoples on Turtle Island practiced some form of purifying themselves with the smoke of various medicines. The act of clearing the air, mind, spirit and emotions may be accomplished in a variety of ways but according to practice, a smudge is led by a person who has an understanding of what a smudge is and why it is done.” – Elder Dan Smoke
Join Elders Dan and Mary Lou Smoke to learn more about the purification ceremony or as Mary Lou refers to it “The First Step.”
