Storytelling is one of the most powerful tools we have to connect with others and get a message across, yet many of us have never been trained in it. This talk will take participants on a journey, from understanding how our brains respond to stories, to learning how to develop a strong story using The 6-Step Story Planning Template©. Whether participants have an upcoming presentation, are creating a video, or are developing a narrative to describe the impact of their work to others, everyone will come out a better storyteller.

Participants will:

• Discuss why stories matter in research
• Hear a live story and analyze it as a group
• Learn the 4 ingredients of a compelling story
• Apply a story structure to their own work
