The LGBTQ2IA+ Weekly Discussion serves as an opportunity for students to connect, discuss and share lived experiences of being part of the LGBTQ2IA+ communities. At the weekly discussion, we explore different topics related to sexual orientation, gender identity, finding community, pop culture and more. These discussions are open to both undergraduate and graduate students. All students are welcome to attend the event, but we will be placing special emphasis on Trans and Gender Diverse identities.

The term LGBTQ2IA+ represents lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, two-spirit, intersex, asexual and others whose identities fall outside of heterosexual and cisgender paradigms.

What is the topic of discussion?

The topic this week is Mental Health and we will have a guest from Student Wellness to help with the discussion and share resources. Here are some of the prompting questions:

  • In your opinion, are LGBT2QIA+ students more at risk of struggling with mental health in university?
  • What do you feel you lack that would help you manage your mental health?
  • In case you struggle with mental health issues, do you know where to seek help on campus?
