Free event. RSVP required: https://uoguel.ph/field
The new GTI grounds are approximately 17 acres with 14 research plots featuring different turfgrass cultivars, mowing heights and soil types. The new research plots feature a variety of turfgrass species and several rootzone specifications to ensure studies benefit golf course superintendents, sod farmers, sport field managers and lawncare providers. Guided tours will start at 1:30 p.m. and run every hour.
“We’re excited to welcome members of the turfgrass industry to tour our new site and building,” says Dr. Eric Lyons, Director of the GTI. “This event also marks the 35th Anniversary of the Guelph Turfgrass Institute, so we’re excited for the opportunity to reconnect with the hundreds of turfgrass alumni who studied in our previous facilities. I hope to see lots of them at the event; the research we’re undertaking is of real value to them and the industry.”
