Explore the mysterious, weird and wonderful world of fungi! The course is open to students of any skill level, with the assumption that most will be beginners. Past courses have been taught in October, when mushrooms are most abundant. However, this year the course will focus on the seasonal changes in mushroom diversity. The course will be divided into five Saturday morning forays about a month apart on the following dates:
- July 13
- August 10
- September 21
- October 19
- November 9
Participants may sign up for one, more or all forays. However, if you want to take more than one, it is recommended to spread them out in order to see the greatest diversity. The morning foray will be followed by an identification session. A species list will be compiled for each foray and a combined foray list will be sent to all interested participants. Please bring a collecting basket of some sort. You are encouraged to bring a field guide, such as George Barron’s field guide, Mushrooms of Ontario and Eastern Canada as well as a digital camera and jump drive for sharing photos.
Guest Instructor: Tim Myles.
