Prof. Andrew Papadopoulos, Department of Population Medicine, was featured in a Hamilton Spectator article about the imminent arrival of cannabis edible products and potential problems for users.
Papadopoulos, a public health policy expert, has studied edible cannabis use in North America and found many potential users likely won’t know how to use products safely.
He told the Spectator there is an urgent need to educate Canadians about safe use of drinks and other edibles infused with cannabis. He noted it will be easy to overdose on these products – particularly since edible cannabis takes so long to take effect.
A faculty member in the Ontario Veterinary College, Papadopoulos coordinates the master of public health program.
