Hilary Jarvis, formerly an associate at the law firm Hicks Morley Hamilton Stewart Storie LLP, has been hired as U of G’s governance and judicial officer. She starts Oct. 2, and her office will be located in the University Secretariat’s offices on the fourth floor of the University Centre.

Jarvis will provide support for student judicial services, including the administration of the tribunals, education and communication on related policies, processes and procedures. She will also work on various governance-related matters for the Secretariat, Board of Governors and Senate.

Jarvis was one of the co-authors of the “Review of the Academic and Non-academic Student Appeals Systems,” also known as The Riggs Report. She received her law degree and a master’s degree in international relations from the University of Toronto, and her undergraduate degree from Queen’s University. She was called to the bar in 2010.

As of Oct. 1, management of the University’s student judicial services will be part of the Secretariat’s operations.
