Brandon Maxwell, a U of G student and goalie on the men’s hockey team, has signed with a professional hockey team based in Russia.

He will play in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), an international league.

Maxwell, a first-year student, played in 14 games with the Gryphons and recorded a save percentage of 0.935 and a goals-against average of 1.92. He tallied 10 wins and only three losses.

“Brandon has a great offer to play in Russia, and we wish him the best of luck and appreciate his contribution while he has been here,” said head coach Shawn Camp.

Guelph goaltending duties will be handed over to third-year player Andrew Loverock.
