U of G’s Student Life office recently won a national award for its innovative LEAD@Guelph program. The Excellence in Innovation Award in the leadership development category was presented by the Canadian Association of Career Educators and Employers during its annual conference in Quebec City. The award recognizes programs that develop leadership experience and/or skills in post-secondary students or recent graduates.

LEAD@Guelph is a leadership education program created by Shannon Thibodeau in Student Life. The certificate program is grounded in key learning outcomes and offers almost 100 sessions each year, facilitated by staff, faculty, community members and alumni. Students enrolled in the program explore topics under the categories of self, group and community aimed at developing their skills and building on their experiences.
