Naresh Thevathasan, adjunct professor in the School of Environmental Sciences and manager of U of G agroforestry research, received an honorary doctorate last month from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Ghana.

As the manager of a CIDA Tier 1 project in the West Africa country, he has helped in training students of agriculture and natural resources management in Ghana, helped establish KNUST research projects, and supported sustainable farming practices to improve rural economies and community health in partner villages.

Thevathasan also directs an agroforestry project in Tamil Nadu, India.
