U of G honorary doctorate recipient Prof. Sir Chris Llewellyn Smith, FRS, Oxford Physics, presents a public talk “Science Diplomacy”.

Science Diplomacy is a term that has come to be used to describe almost all activities that involve both science/scientists and international relations/politicians/diplomats. In his presentation, Prof. Sir Chris Llewellyn Smith will discuss examples, successes and failures of:

  • Science in diplomacy
    • Science supporting international political objectives
    • Science helping meet global technical challenges
  • Diplomacy for science
  • Science for diplomacy

He will also discuss the SESAME (Synchrotron-light for Experimental Science and Applications in the Middle East) project, which is bringing together scientists from across the region.
