Friday, September 6, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Presented in partnership with College of Arts – University of Guelph and The International Institute for Critical Studies in Improvisation

In Conversation: Marina Endicott and Guy Gavriel Kay

The Eden Mills Writers Festival presents two best-selling Canadian authors for the opening night of the 2019 festival. Marina Endicott and Guy Gavriel Kay will appear on stage together for the very first time. Each a fan of the other’s work, their mutual admiration and respect will guide their discussion about the craft of writing and the role of history in their respective novels. Don’t miss the chance to hear from these two CanLit favourites!

Q&A and book signing to follow.

An Opening for the Opening: An Improvised Curtain-Raiser

The International Institute of Critical Studies in Improvisation is delighted to present a reading and improvised musical performance that will pay tribute to artistic freedom and collaboration for the opening of the festival. Garry Thomas Morse will read “high octane poems with a fast rhythm” from his new book of poetry, Safety Sand, while Matt Brubeck improvises on cello. Expect a strange kind of beauty.
