The Stress Management & High Performance Clinic began in 1978 in the Department of Human Kinetics with Dr. Evelyn Bird’s research on the impact of biofeedback and self-regulation/Non-Sleep Deep Rest techniques on health and performance. When Dr. Bird retired from teaching at the University, Student Affairs asked the Clinic to continue providing this research-based skills training for interested students, staff, faculty, and community members.
