Several campus roads and parking lots will be closed over the Labour Day weekend as the University of Guelph welcomes new students moving into residence.
Move-in weekend starts on the evening of Thursday, Aug. 28 and runs all day on Friday, Aug. 29 and Saturday, Aug. 30.
Guelph drivers can expect heavier traffic on Gordon Street between Stone Road and College Avenue as students move onto campus. Pedestrians and cyclists travelling near U of G are encouraged to use caution at busy intersections.
Traffic will also be heavier on Stone Road, University Avenue, Smith Lane and Victoria Road, particularly near residence buildings.
Construction continues at the intersection of Gordon Street and College Avenue until December, likely resulting in more traffic on other roads in the area during move-in weekend.
U of G road closures
Some roads on U of G campus will be closed for everyone but incoming students, including:
- South Ring Road
- East Ring Road
Fire and safety routes will remain open throughout move-in weekend to allow for any emergency responses. Drivers in and around campus are expected to obey all traffic rules and regulations.

These parking lots will be closed to all but move-in traffic on Friday and Saturday:
- North Martialing Lot: P19, P20, P44, P47, P3, P51, P5
