The University of Guelph and CUPE 3913 – the union representing teaching assistants, graduate service assistants and sessional lecturers – continue to work toward reaching a new collective agreement.

CUPE 3913 has recently voted in favour of a strike mandate, which means its members support the work of the bargaining team and agree that a strike may occur in the future. This is a normal part of the bargaining process and does not mean CUPE 3913 is going on strike.

As announced previously, discussions between the two parties will continue with a conciliation officer from the Ministry of Labour. The University is committed to reaching an agreement that is fair and responsible. We remain confident that an agreement can be reached.

The University deeply values its teaching assistants, graduate service assistants and sessional lecturers and their work. We look forward to continued discussions.
