The second annual Giving Games are underway! Canadian Blood Services’ Giving Games is a competition between Ontario high schools and post-secondary institutions to see which school can “give” the most between January 8 to March 24.

Last year U of G took first place – help the University retain its crown again by participating in this year’s Giving Games!

There are three ways to “give”:

  • 2 point: Book an appointment to donate blood (130 Silvercreek Pkwy, N, Guelph)
  • 1 point: Join the stem cell registry (University Centre Courtyard – March 1, 8, 15 and 22 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.)
  • 1 points: Post a donation photo on Instagram (tag @UoGCBS and #GivingGames2023)

When you book your appointment, make sure you join the U of G team so that your donation counts towards the Giving Games.

“The Giving Games is not only a friendly competition, but an opportunity to truly make a difference to those in need,” said Madeline O’Connor, a College of Biological Sciences student involved in organizing U of G’s Giving Games. “I encourage everyone to donate if they can – invite a friend, colleague or classmate and make it a new meaningful tradition.”

Every other Thursday (Feb. 15 and 29 and March 14 and 22) there will be swabbing booths in the University Centre where you can swab your cheek to join the stem cell registry.

The Giving Games competition is run by the Canadian Blood Services Ontario NextGen Volunteer Teams.
