Dr. Mike Dixon, director of the Controlled Environment Systems Research Facility, spoke to BNN Bloomberg about sending barley seeds to space, subjecting them to extreme conditions.

Dixon said he was pleasantly surprised the seeds germinated after returning to Earth, and that the endeavour leaves great potential for agriculture technology in space and on Earth.

Dixon is a retired professor in the School of Environmental Sciences at the Ontario Agricultural College, where he researches controlled environment agriculture.
