The University of Guelph Faculty Association (UGFA), which represents about 875 faculty members, librarians and veterinarians, and the University have now ratified the tentative agreement that was reached through mediation on Nov. 11.

The University of Guelph and the University of Guelph Faculty Association (UGFA), the union that represents about 875 faculty members, librarians and veterinarians, have reached a tentative agreement with the assistance of a mediator. Nov. 1 Update: University, UGFA Agree to Mediation
The University of Guelph and the University of Guelph Faculty Association (UGFA) – representing about 875 faculty, librarians and veterinarians –have been meeting since July 6 to negotiate a new collective agreement. The last agreement expired June 30.
The bargaining teams have agreed to mediation with an external mediator. The mediator will meet with the parties Nov. 7, 8 and 10.
Updates will be provided as appropriate.
Earlier this month, UGFA was given a strike mandate in a vote. This is a standard part of the contract-bargaining process; it does not mean a labour disruption is imminent or inevitable.
The University and UGFA have a positive history of renewing collective agreements without a labour disruption.
The University values its relationship with UGFA and is committed to continuing discussing ways of meeting our collective needs amid continuing challenges and reaching a fair and reasonable settlement.
