Dr. Susan Bell Chiblow, assistant professor at the Ontario Agricultural College, wrote an opinion piece for CBC’s The Passionate Eye to accompany a documentary-style feature on the impact glyphosate – an herbicide used to kill plants and weeds – is having on Indigenous communities and their way of life.

“It is my responsibility to be a good ancestor,” writes Chiblow, of Garden River First Nation in Robinson-Huron Treaty territory.

“The future generations will look back at us, on the decisions we made.”

Chiblow teaches in the Indigenous Environmental Science and Practice program in the School of Environmental Sciences. Her research focuses on exploring Indigenous knowledge systems and emphasizes weaving Indigenous and non-Indigenous worldviews to enhance environmental decision making.
