Ontario Agricultural College researcher Dr. Keith Warriner spoke to the Toronto Star on whether cows that escaped into the wilderness en route to the slaughterhouse are safe to eat.
Warriner said the federal government requires livestock to be tracked throughout the supply chain to ensure the animals were reared in controlled environments.
A professor in the Department of Food Science, Warriner researches food safety and microbiology with an emphasis on food-borne viruses like listeria.
