Ontario Agricultural College professor Dr. Madhur Anand offered to The Conversation Canada her recommendation for one of five books and films about the India Partition on the 75th anniversary.
The article appeared in dozens of publications, including Yahoo! News and the Houston Chronicle.
While writing her memoir This Red Line Goes Straight to Your Heart: A Memoir of Halves, which reflects in part on the Partition and her parents’ childhoods, Anand consulted the stories told by Hasan Manto to inform her research.
In 2020, This Red Line Goes Straight to Your Heart won the Governor General’s Literary Award for non-fiction.
Anand is the director of the Guelph Institute for Environmental Research, and a professor in the School of Environmental Sciences.
