Political scientist Dr. Steffi Hamann explained Indonesia’s palm oil export ban in a commentary for The Conversation Canada, which also appeared in the National Post. 

Hamann explained why the ban came about and the implications it has for the global food supply, saying it will have dire impacts on regions dependent on vegetable oils for cooking.  

A professor in the Department of Political Science, Hamann researches socio-economic development and global inequalities, with an emphasis on the political economy of natural resource extraction.
