Biology professor Dr. Robert Hanner discussed the Canadian Food Inspection Agency’s latest report on food fraud with The Globe and Mail.
Hanner, who helped shape the use of environmental DNA in food fraud research, said the results should be interpreted with caution, adding food fraud will continue to increase along with inflation.
A professor in the Department of Integrative Biology and a researcher with the Biodiversity Institute of Ontario at U of G, Hanner specializes in the use of genetic methods to identify species and has spent more than a decade studying food fraud.
