Epidemiologist Dr. Heather Murphy spoke about her role in testing wastewater for COVID-19 in Philadelphia with The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Murphy explained how her lab at Temple University, where she is an adjunct associate research professor, tests the wastewater by concentrating it into a pellet to analyze it for COVID-19, before sending it to Michigan State University.
A professor in the Ontario Veterinary College’s Department of Pathobiology, Murphy’s research interests focus on understanding and addressing water and health challenges in both developed and developing countries. Murphy is also a part of U of G’s wastewater monitoring team.
