Human garbage is everywhere including in the oceans, and octopuses are using the trash for shelter, a new study finds. Philosopher and naturalist Dr. Stefan Linquist offered his thoughts on the findings to CBC’s “As It Happens.”
Linquist said the study’s findings are unsurprising given his own research in New South Wales, Australia, on octopuses, during which he observed the animals displaying similar behaviour.
A professor in the Department of Philosophy, Linquist studies ecology, genomics, evolution and psychology.
