A new poetry collection from environmental science professor Dr. Madhur Anand was featured in Orion magazine’s recommended poetry to read in 2022.
The award-winning author and ecologist’s upcoming second poetry collection, entitled Parasitic Oscillations, draws on her lived experiences, mathematical birdsong simulations, and A. O. Hume’s bird research and letters and diaries. They are combined into what Orion’s poetry editor calls “a fascinating medley of science, philosophy and art.”
Anand is the director of the Guelph Institute for Environmental Research and is a professor in the School of Environmental Sciences. Her first poetry collection is called A New Index for Predicting Catastrophes and her memoir, This Red Line Goes Straight to Your Heart: A Memoir of Halves, won the 2020 Governor General’s Literary Award for non-fiction.
