Dr. Maya Goldenberg, a professor in the Department of Philosophy, spoke to several media outlets about various aspects of COVID-19 vaccinations.
With the start of 2021 federal elections campaign, Goldenberg warned CBC News against the use of the debates about vaccination mandates as “political toys” in their campaigns.
Speaking to the Toronto Star, Goldenberg also discussed whether full FDA approval of the current COVID-19 vaccines will help sway those who still sitting on the fence about whether to get the shots.
The Pfizer vaccine is already fully approved by Health Canada, but not by the FDA, which authorized it for emergency use only. Goldenberg said the final stamp of approval from the U.S. regulator could help convince some Canadians to get immunized.
Goldenberg specializes in the philosophy of science and medicine and examines why some people become wary of science. She is the author of Vaccine Hesitancy: Public Trust, Expertise, and the War on Science.
