If more Canadian police forces used body cameras, would it increase their accountability?

Prof. Kate Puddister, Department of Political Science, told CBC North the devices don’t solve all problems.

While advocates say the cameras would improve interactions between officers and the public, Puddister said there is not a lot of evidence that this is true. Officers can turn the cameras on and off, which reduces the devices’ potential effectiveness.

She studies issues in law enforcement and politics as well as criminal justice policy and contributes to U of G’s criminal justice and public policy program.
