A new $200,000 fund is available to support efforts that enhance equity, diversity and inclusion at U of G.
The new Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Enhancement Fund is open to students, staff and faculty who are developing initiatives, events, awards, research or course content that increases awareness of the importance of equity, diversity and inclusion. The fund will be administered by U of G’s Office of Diversity and Human Rights (DHR).
“The University of Guelph is committed to building a strong culture of belonging for our community,” says Indira Naidoo-Harris, AVP of diversity and human rights. “I am excited that our University is providing vital support through our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Enhancement Fund.”
Apply for funding by June 26
All interested members of the University community are encouraged to apply for funding online through the DHR website. Proposals are due June 26. A second call for proposals will take place later this year.
Naidoo-Harris emphasizes the importance of strong, inclusive and fair connections, particularly during COVID-19. “This fund will empower those working to create an environment of acceptance at U of G so no one feels left out,” she says.
Funding of up to $12,000 per proposal is available. Proposals addressing equity and inclusion in light of COVID-19 pandemic challenges are welcome.
Submitted proposals:
- Must align with U of G’s Strategic Framework, with particular attention to the pillars of “Connecting Communities” and “Nurturing a Distinctive University Culture”
- Can be scaled and replicated for greater University-wide impact
- Should address resource requirements and financial sustainability
- Must include a plan to measure impact
More information and application details are available on the Office of Diversity and Human Rights website or by contacting dhrinfo@uoguelph.ca.
Funding granted will consider restrictions and guidelines to support physical distancing measures.
