Female finance students will benefit from $40,000 in new scholarships, the College of Business and Economics (CBE) announced last week.
The scholarships, donated by Fidelity Investments Canada, are part of the company’s overall $215,000 donation that will fund initiatives in gender equity and active learning.
The scholarships will be awarded to outstanding female students in the bachelor of commerce program over the next five years and will include both entrance and in-course scholarships.
“By providing support and recognition for our top female finance students, Fidelity is helping us attract and develop talent for a rewarding career path that has traditionally been male-dominated,” says CBE dean Julia Christensen-Hughes.
“We are grateful to Fidelity for their insightful leadership and for helping us advance our commitment to developing leaders for a more sustainable and equitable world.”
Fidelity Investments Canada will also fund an experiential learning opportunity by giving $100,000 to the Guelph Student Investment Council, a finance-focused student club, to trade on the Toronto Stock Exchange and other major North American exchanges.
